i live 45 minutes from the nearest fish store if you catch my drift.

it's not as easy for an adult that has a job and can drive almost whenever they want to go pickup stuff and do all sorts of stuff for tanks. i can't drive and my parents have to buy most of the stuff.
and for distilled buying water to water change a 55 gallon tank will kill my parents

Zeke i had the same problem in my reef and everyone said buy a RO or distilled, that didn't go over well with my parents either.
Then someone recommended PURA Phoslock i tried it and it killed 90% of the hair algea so i got some mexican turbos and emerald crabs and they keep it under control. I also take of as much as i can manually and fan the dirt of the LR. IDK if it will work for you because your tap water could be way different from mine (apparently ours is pretty good) But definitely get some emerald crabs, they are the only things i've actually seen eating it. good luck

i'm getting a cleanup crew next week. i'm not putting crabs in my horse tank at all, not gonna risk it. it's a snail only tnak. i'm gonna get a variety, some cerith maby, alot of turbos, some bumblebees, anything i can find that could be helpful.
