hair algea problem!!!

got any ideas to eliminate hair algea? i recently got a new brighter light and the crap took a growing spurt and now its out of control.........my hermits are usless and the urchin isnt doing its job.

there has to be a cause, mostlikely phosphates. i would test and use some type of phosphate remover

omg yea turbo snails i had a problem bought two and within 3 days my tank was spotless

I've been fighting the same thing for about 2 months now and I think I finally got it. There are some post on this site that were very helpfull.
I started with turning the lights to 4 hrs a day and feeding once every 4 days.
Also I've been doing 20-25% water changes every week.
I also bought 50 turbo's but most have been eaten by everything in the tank. The snails did work a little but I beleive it has been the cleaning and removing all the hair algae everyweek and the water changes.
