I think this is my hairy mushroom eating

It seems to do this after I feed it Kent Marine ZooPlex. I could be wrong, but it looks cool.

By direct feeding can they grow more rapidly and/or reproduce quicker? My one hairy mushroom split about a week ago and now my GSM clown is trying to use it as a host.
