Half a star

So I come home tonight and there is half my star fish clinging to the glass. It is below the powerhead. I assume he got sucked in and chewed up. Since it is still clinging to the glass, I assume it may still be alive. Is there any chance it'll survive or should I pull it out now to reduce the ammonia spike?

Ok, A sally lightfoot is dead and my rics, which were splitting slowly, are all of a sudden splitting quickly. I think I'm getting it out, doing a water change and running some carbon.

Tough call. Check it often to see if it is still firm. After so long, it will stabilize and regrow...if fate keeps it around. Personally, I would put it in my sump and disconnect the sump from the DT. If it dies, just do a huge sump water change...
I don't know if you have a sump though. Whatever you do, I wish you Good Luck.

Not sure on your starfish situation, but get your water tested since the SLF died also.
The sump idea is good too. But I think you'll be alright keeping it in the DT and check on it daily. They start to dissolve away when dieing, so if you see it dissolving, then place it in the sump.
You might need the sump right now, cause your levels may be less than perfect.
