Hi all,
Whats is the minimum lighting required for Halimeda? I know they say moderate light. Would 130w pc be ok?

If you have enough calcium in the water you could probably almost grow it with a flashlight! Halimeda will grow under 130w of PC but with it in your tank it is difficult to keep your CA up! It sucks the CA right out of the water to sustain it's self!

I have halimeda that likes to grow on 1 particular rock in my 20gal. Would this be a farely large calcium uptake in my 20gal? It is always growing...I take them out when they get too big for my likeing.

It could be. I had a hard time keeping my CA up when I used to dose and I know my corals weren't getting it all. I used to have to prune my Halimeda once a week when I had Fla aquacultered rock which was covered in Halimeda. That was a lot of calcularous growth in a short amount of time!
