halloween or electric hermit crab

i was wondering if you guys have ever seen one of these crabs. i think they come from hawaii. but the electric blue one is really amazing. i have seen a couple different color markings on the halloween so i was wondering if you had any pics of yours. also are they just like a normal crab? becausei dont want to get him/her if they wont eat whats already in my tank. i think its like $12 for one at my lfs.

Those electric blue crabs are incredible Ive never owned one, but I would probably get one if I had the chance. I have owned a halloween hermit and it was nothing but trouble, constantly picking at various corals. But IMO all hermits are different and your taking a risk with any crab you choose to get, Ive had emeralds that eat nothing but bubble algae and those that prefer corals or coraline, red legs that eat polyps, and those that eat nothing but algae, and so on. if you do decide to get one keep an eye on it of course, you can usually tell if its going to be a problem within the first couple of days HTH

my lfs is getting a bunch of electric blues on friday. and since this will be going into my new tank that has no corals yet i think he will be ok. since he will have no corals to bother yet. i think that crab is simply awesome. its legs and colors are so unusual. i just keep thinking to myself that hes gonna look like a giant to the little crabs i allready have in the tank. <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />
