Hammer Coral Hair?

My Hammer Coral has what looks like white hairs on its skeleton. They are too small to take a picture. Is this normal?

More description needed to be absolute. I am betting its the beginning of a form of algea. Could be any number of worms or other critter in our tanks, but my money is on algea and its not getting enough flow.
Might also move this thread to the Reef portion since your not looking to trade it I assume.

I forgot to mention that they retract if I try to touch them. Also, how do you move a thread?
