Hammer Coral Question ???

I picked up a new piece of Hammer Coral from a buddy, pretty large, 5-6heads. I put it in my tank and within about an hour a few of the tentacles got really long and stringy. Theres probably about 7 or 8 that are like long, maybe 4-5inches long and stringy looking, all the rest are normal. Whats going on?

Those are sweeper tentacles. You're in good shape, the hammer coral is just reaching out and trying to say hello to it's neighbors

Those are long sweepers. You're going to have to keep a wide berth for that one.

Sweeping for what? Food, or trying to sting away other corals in close proximity?

They're looking for neighbors to sting so it can establish it's territory.
