hammer coral

Hi everybody.Just wondering if anybody can give me suggestions on what lighting i would need to keep a hammer coral.My tank is 48LX18DX28H.thanks

You will need at least 4 watts per gallon, so 500 watts total will give you around 4.5 wpg, which is recommended at least this amount. I have a reef tanks setup running around 4.7 wpg. This wattage is for running more light needing corals, like the hammer/frogspawn species.

I was planning on getting a T5 strip.The lfs guy said it kinda takes place of MH.Do you think this will be enough? Thanks.

Not sure what wattage the T5 strip is. The easiest way to tell how much wattage is (total light watts / gallons in aquarium = watts per gallon). Use this method and its a simple way to tell if its enough. Hope this helps.

Every bit helps.I plan on making a trip to the bigger lfs in my area(2 hour drive)this weekend so i'll be able to get some wattage on the T5's.Heres hoping there are enough.Lights are expensive and you know christmas is coming soon.
