I just bought this last week, I think someone fragged from their tank and brought to LFS. The arrow points to where the break is fresh and the circled part shows where the "hammers" are shriveling up and there is a milky mucas coming from it. Is there some sort of disease these can get, or is this from the break? I only had it for a week, it was under strip lites, I am acclimating to MH. All water parms are fine

:happyfish Hi, sorry to hear about your hammer, I think it was fragged like you said, but it could be gall crabs, maybe. They live under the soft tissue of hard corals I BELIEVE. I may be wrong on that. There are coral diseases, but I don't think it was a coral disease. Could be your lighting situation too. It may be vastly different than the lfs you got it from. Good luck, sorry I wasn't of much help, ali

That area of regression is almost certainly from the fragging process. I would predict that your coral will do well. Corals can make a lot of mucus when they are injured.

As you can see in the pic below, flesh is still receding. How long should I wait until I try to do something? I can see the skelaton at least 1/4" under the polyps in the direction of the arrow.
