Hammer question

I've had a grapefruit sized hammer in my tank for about 2 years now and it is doing great. Today I added a pair of True Percula clowns to the tank and it is already looking like they are going to host the hammer since I do not have an anemone in the tank. I read on another forum that eventually the clowns would kill the hammer. Does anyone have any first hand experience with a clown hosting a hammer or another member of the euphylia family that can share their experiences?

I think it really depends on the clown. Some might be fine and some may "love it to death." I've seen a lot of both cases. Hope everything works out well.

I dont think they will kill it, mine host my frogspawn, and then also take to the anchor so i guess its how the coral is i guess but it wont kill it just my .02

I have A Euphyllia Paradivisa (branched Frogspawn) Coral for about 6 months with a pair of Amphiprion ocellaris False Percula Clownfish I have seen no ill affects to either. The clowns were tank raised and very small when purchased approximately 2 months before the coral. I later added a second Euphyllia paradivisa and have had no problems with that one either.
Realize this is not exactly the same situation as yours' but hope it lets you sleep at night.

My clowns seem to host on my green spotted mushrooms. With the mushrooms (seeing as they are corallimorphs), they sometimes jump ship (of the live rock they were on) and I have to reattach them elsewhere. I've seen no ill effect yet on my shrooms as a result, so hopefully they won't do harm to your hammer. I have a hammer as well, but my two clowns don't bother it.
