How many of you use hang on the back refugiums?? Is the weight a concern or do you use some type of brace to help support all the wieght?? Im looking at a 20 gallon refugium and im concerned about the weight hanging off the back of the tank.
Thanks

I was looking at the CPR 24" hang on and they say it is around 15 to 20 gallons for that one. Just want to get several opinions before putting all that weight onto the back of the tank.
Thanks

the size of 24' CPR refuguim is 25-1/2"L x 4-1/2"W 12"H. so, it
s about half of the 10 gal tank.( maybe a lit larger than that, but less than 10 gal for sure)

I called an online supplier and they told me it was about 15 to 20 gallons for the 24" so this information that Flatzboy and Ireven provided makes me not trust the online company anymore!!! I think they were looking for a quick sell! Guess they didnt realize that we usually double check our info before buying! :D

ireven,
Does the wieght concern you at all?? I have this fear that adding the weight of a 24" CPR ((roughly 50lbs full of water and mud) along with my canopy which is 12" high oak may be too heavy for the glass to support. Im not great at calculations but I dont know how much weight the glass on a 125 gallon tank can hold? If someone could let me know that weight isnt a factor then I would get the CPR but until I hear it from someone with the proper information I dont know what to do. I know the 24" CPR may be a little small for a 125g but its better then nothing.

I have two 18" aquafuges on the back of my 125 (along with a remora pro skimmer) and nothing has collapsed yet. The fuges each have a DSB in them as well.

im not sure what lights to get thats why I was wanting to get some ideas. I didnt want to go too bright since they will be on during the night but I didnt want to get some that werent bright enough and couldnt support whatever I decide to put into the refuge. Im sure they online stores will have their recommendations.

usually ppl do 8w to 16 w for refuguim 24/7.
I already had one 65w pc light, so i just place it for refuguim.
