In case you Christian folks should think it s only a Jewish Holiday...
Jesus celebrated the Dedication (John 10:22) also known as the Festival of lights and I'm not surprised...he was Jewish after all....
Nor is Chanukkah a "Jewish" Xmas
It s a Hoiliday celebrating the removal of false gods from the Holy Temple...God was so pleased he allowed the Temple Menorah to burn for 8 days with oil enough only for 1 day...The oil lasted until new oil couild be supplied, the Temple Menorah was a light that was to always burn and never go out.
So good Blessing and joy to all you...my cyber Family!
HAPPY CHANUKKAH!!!

LOL! Yeah, people seem to forget Jesus was a Jew, not a Christian.

UMmmm can I say not a MODERN Christian. Since a "Christian" is a follower of Christ, who is Jesus who can't follow himself..that's too weird...LOL
He did start Christianity but not the modern version we have today.

Happy Chanukkah Flower!
I'm just curious, how come some people spell it Chanukka and others spell it Hanukka?

Happy Chanukka Flower!
Little Adam sandler for ya!
Intro: Ok, this a, this is a song, that uh, theres alot of Christmas songs out there, and uh, not
too many Hanukkah songs, so I wrote a song for all those nice little Jewish
kids who dont get to hear any Hanukkah songs--here we go...
Put on your yarmulka, here comes Hanukkah
Its so much fun-akkah to celebrate Hanukkah,
Hanukkah is the Festival of Lights,
Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights.
But when you're the only kid in town without a Christmas tree, Heres a list of
people who are Jewish, just like you and me:
David Lee Roth lights the menorrah,
So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah
Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli,
Bowzer from Sha-na-na, and Arthur Fonzerrelli.
Paul Newman's half Jewish; Goldie Hawn's half too,
Put them together--what a fine lookin’ Jew! [Esus]
You dont need Deck the Halls or Jingle Bell Rock
Cause you can spin a dreidl with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock--both Jewish!
[Esus]
Put on your yalmulka, its time for Hanukkah,
The owner of the Seattle Super sonic-ah celebrates Hanukkah.
O.J. Simpson-- not a Jew!
But guess who is...Hall of Famer—Rod Carew--(he converted!)
We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby,
Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish--not too shabby!
Some people think that Ebeneezer Scrooge is,
Well, hes not, but guess who is: All three stooges. [Esus]
So many Jews are in show biz--
Tom Cruise isn't, [tacit] but I heard his agent is. [Esus]
Tell your friend Veronica, its time to celebrate Hanukkah
I hope I get a harmonica, on this lovely, lovely Hanukkah.
So drink your gin-and-tonic-ah, and smoke your mara-juanic-ah,
If you really, really wanna-kah, Have a happy, happy, happy, happy
Hanukkah……. HAPPY HANUKKAH!

The actual word is in Hebrew and phonetically it can be spelled either way when translated into English. Both spellings are acceptable.
And Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate! (Me included)

Well I haven't been to bed yet...Mom isn't feeling well, I had to run to the pharmacy for her and while there the insurance people on Dan called and they seem to have lost the forms...3 weeks no check, how long does it take these people to pay out a small life insurance claim?
Anyway...the spelling of Hanukkah..Chanukkah. The sound in Hebrew is a breathy hah sound with a little gurgle in the back of your throat, it is an H sound, so some folks spell a Hebrew word with English letters beginning with an H.
The Hebrew letter to make the Hah sound is a Chet it is a breathy sound but has that little sound in the back of the throat so the proper sound is a KH together so some people spell it with a CH
Since it is a Hebrew word, it really has no English spelling so we are kind of using English letters to make sounds. You can’t spell it wrong because it can’t be spelled right.
So Happy Chanukah.....Happy Chanukkah......Happy Hanukkah.......Happy Hanukah LOL
Can any of you guess what Gimel means when the Draidel falls on my little Holiday icon?

yeah, but those are only partial pot wins right, the Gimel means you win the whole thing and the game starts over or something I thought. I could be wrong, someone was trying to explain it to me once.

thats a funny story, i like the part about the spouse taking all the change and the part about the person with the loudest voice.
In this version I see flower going last. LOL

LOL....we play for walnuts at my house...we never have enough change. I always get to go first to show the little ones how to spin it and remind them what each letter means. There seems to always be a new grandchild or friend of a grandchild each year to teach. Each has a menorah, the baby gets a wooden one with little flames that stick on with a peg. The next age group of children get the battery operated ones. The actual one with fire is for the older children and they are very closely supervised. The menorahs are all handed down as each matures. I take the time to say the prayer with each of them so they can learn..then we enjoy Latkes (fried potato cakes) we have foods that need oil to cook to remind us of the oil HaShem provided.
This year it's just me and my Mother, no children, thay can't come until the weekend...I miss them already and they were here last weekend. I love Chanukkah and I was really happy to have the words to Adams song..I had it on my phone for a ringer once...it's great. Thank You Jstdv8
