Hard and Soft corals together?

Just thought I would ask whether people mix their soft and hard corals I have been reading about how mushrooms and softies can harm hard corals especially sps with the mucus they shed. I know this is kind of generalized with no specific types of corals but I would like to know if anyone has had problems mixing, or if they keep Soft, LPS and SPS seperate.

I have many 'shrooms and 3 small toadstools in my tank. I have a ton of LPS, no SPS. No problems for me. Some of the soft corals can secrete a chemical that other corals find toxic or will react poorly to it. Chemical warfare more or less, to protect themselves and the territory where they grow. Some are more potent than others. To further cloud the water, many corals can adapt to tolerate these toxins, and placement can help as well. The coral that is down current, may not like the chemicals excreted from another coral up current.

I mix up softies with LPS with no problems.
Currently I have shrooms, colt, toadstool, polyps, leather, open brain, elegant, torch, and hammer.

I have many mushrooms, 2 frogspawns , 4 finger corals etc. no problems
well I should say I have not had any problems with my set up. (YET)

Many people's experience with mixing soft corals and sps corals are very different. Much of the current literature advises against mixing some of the leather corals with sps. The Devil's Hand leather seems to be implicated in interaction problems more than any other. I've never, personally, kept any leathers with sps, but probably will not. Others specifically mention "terpene (or is it, terpine)" compounds secreted by some soft/leather corals as the primary source of sps interaction problems.

M<y tank is very mixed up with both softies and stonies. I'v had no problems out of any of them as far as toxins. I personally would not have a reef without mixing them.
