Kh, Alk and Carbonate hardness are all the same thing right? Then what is Gh, and is it important for salt water?

GH= general hardness, more used in freshwater. Typically in saltwater KH, dkh and meq/L are used as the measurement unit for alkalinity.

Carbonate hardness is a synonym for alkalinity expressed in PPM of calcium carbonate.
KH is a German term for the same thing.
In freshwater systems the term hardness is simply used, freshwater aquires hardness when minerals, especially calcium and magnesium are dissolved as the water flows over the Earths surface.

I don’t pretend to know everything about this specific hobby like you do Mikey. Just because I called you out when you were flat-out wrong on marine worms doesn’t mean I’ve mastered the hobby. The fact that there are three names representing the same chemical measurement is confusing, as well as a fourth alluding to, but different from, the other three. That’s why I asked. So thank you to ReefNut and Phixer for their input, but save yours the next time.

First, I never said I know everything!!! Your the one who says you know ALL about inverts because your in college studying marine biology and I don't know anything about the hobby!!! Should I bring that QUOTE from the other thread? You need to stop calling names cause I never called you anything! You called me out on the marine worms, but it doesn't mean you were completely correct cause that is your OPINION! It's true to a certain extent and I will agree with you on it that much, but your the know it all.... From my quote before, kids these days think they know everything.....

For a "grown-up" you’re acting really immature with all the whining you’re doing there Mikey.
Thanks for hijacking my thread, now stop playing the victim and for the second time please stop commenting on my threads because you offer no helpful advice.
