For most tang's I have heard you need at least a 75gal. I had a yellow tang before my tank crashed due to IKE

Tang should have 75g at the very least. They can grow fast and after awhile you should have them in a 100+ gallon tank.

tangs are prone to parasites due to the fact they do not have scales. I would only consider a kole tang for a 75 min, and a yellow would do fine for a while.

Dear hobbyist,in my 150 gallon aquarium I have 4 tangs .
A Clown tang - 7"
A Hippo tang -5"
A Blond Naso tang -7"
and a Yellow tang - 5.5" . I also have a cleaner wrasse living with them, which keeps them clean. Of all the tangs I've ever had,the yellow tangs' the hardiest. Tangs need good water quality, seaweed, spiralina, and foods enriched with vitamin C . Enjoy the hobby.........

Tangs definitely have scales. The difference and reason why they are prone to Marine Ich, is that they a very thin slime coat, as opposed to say a damsel. The more the fish swims, the more a nuisance the slime coat becomes (drag of the slime coat, against the friction of the water).

Correct. And I would say your choices then are pretty limited to a, Yellow, Scopas, Kole, or Tomini. You could
keep a tang in a 20gal, as a quarantine tank for 4-8 weeks. But if you don't already have at least a 75 gallon setup long setup, just wait on a tang.
