Harlequin help!!!

Well a few days ago I picked up a tusk at the LFS, he did well in the QT ate happily and everything. So today I tried introduing him to my DT. Not the greatest of all luck, my little koran was a big bully, my raccon too was trying to "spike" him with his dorsal, and even my auriga was pestering him... oddly the harlequin is the biggest in the tank... but he seems to be bossed by everything except my blenny, any idea on what maybe happening??? I just find it odd that my raccon of all is being so rude to new tank mates, as he never has been before. Does any one out there have any similar happenings? I've have never been faced with such an aggresion issue, any ideas? FYI the tusk is back in the QT, he happily swam back in the net!

thanks for the reply, its just that I find it odd. I have had much lager fish pass threw my raccon in my tank, and absolutely no aggression has ever taken place, not once with my longnose butterfly, or my fluffy lion, just my harlequin tusk... the on fish I treasure in my tank and he can't even settle cause no one will leave him alone. which to my understanding most harlequin are, recluse.

Don't worry, he can hold his own. They are reclusive, but they don't succumb to disease or stress easily and they grow quite large. Introduce him back in. Unless his fins are ripped and he has trouble breathing, let him get bullied for the first day. It is their instinct. It will stop quickly.

Okay I guess I'll give it a try again tomorrow. Its just really uneasy for me to watch, I've had much bigger raccons and other butterflys pass threw the tank and no sign of aggresion to any other fish, with the ecsseption of the Koran cause he's just punky in nature! Do you think it has something to do with how the harlequin looks?

Sure it does. Fish know a fish that will be a potential threat when they are babies. They kill the threat babies, even though the babies are not a threat yet. This fish can hold it's own. Keep the QT running, just in case. I know that it is hard to watch. It should be over within the day though. This guy will not be bullied easily. They will see that and calm down.

thanks! Looks like I'm going to re-introduce him tomorrow!
Are you home tomorrow? Do it while you will be there all day to watch. Don't stand by the tank, let them sniff each other, and flash, or chase. It's alright. If you see overly aggressive behavior then take him out. A few nips and shoves will not kill him.

welcome to the boards, in spite of their mean appearance tusks are much more docile than the other large wrasses. I would not worry too much though, once the pecking order is established it will be fine. My tusk still gets chased by my tomato clown from time to time even though the tusk is twice as big.

Hey Sep... Read profile.

Hey CHAiZA, post a pic, just one. Cause I'm having a hard time believing what you are writing. In another thread you made mention that it's time to upgrade, but yet you went out and bought a new fish?? The fish you listed aren't cheap, so it can't be that it's to expensive...

Just one pic.
Oh and how big is the QT?
