I have recently started a 55 gal. which will soon become a reef tank. It has about 35-45 lbs. lr and i am going to be putting in a bit more. The question I have is does anyone have any experience with harlequin shrimp? They look really cool but is there any special care requirements. I think they have a very specific diet. Can anyone shed some light on the subject. They tend to be a little pricy and I dont want to make a mistake.

my sister just bought one and it is very nice looking and not a secretive as i thought it would be. she put a choclate ship starfish in with it but i havent seen it eat yet. i get starfish for fairly cheep so it is not that big of a deal for me but if you have a fuge you can keep back up stars in there and switch them out to keep them alive. just a thought though, i havent tryed it yet.

Ive seen people do that with linkia multiflora(sp?) stars when i was in hawaii. The set up a tank full of the stars and cut the legs off allowing them to regrow and feed the shrimp.
