Harlequin Tuskfish and Arcylic

Does anyone have any success stories with keeping a harlequin tusk in an arcylic tank without having him scratch the inside with his teeth? I've read a few horror stories but am curious if its a hit and miss cause I think I'm willing to risk it but dont want to add him if its definite destruction. He'd be the only wrasse and its a 280g tank.

I'm a big fan of HTs, have 3 Australians now. Two are hand fed and the blue teeth really scare little kids---its great! I have never owned an acrylic tank because I assume my clumsiness would scratch it on the inside. However, I do believe the horror stories. HTs will scrape LR and I've seen them going after their reflection on glass tank walls that would almost certainly do damage to acrylic. Before moving, I blame an HT for a broken heater, not sure, but I did see him trying to gnaw it on several occasions. I always use titanium heaters now.

thanks for the info. I'll never go arcylic again its way too hard to clean w/out scratching the inside of it.

yea most big tanks are acrylic.probably because they are alot lighter and stronger,i would not go acrylic but moving my 250 glass tank is a bear.

I've seen them scraping on acrylic first hand in a friends FOWLR setup, the scrapings all over the tank were terrible and collected with nasty algae that she could not get off.
Her fish never got hurt from it, thank goodness, but I too, believe the horror stories and will never own an acrylic tank.
