has any1 built their own stand???

I dont wanna fork over $80 for a stand for my 55 gal. tank,
does any1 have a DIY writeup to make a stand?

What kind of stand can get for $80.00. It will cost you about $60.00 just for the supples if you build a basic 2 door pine stand.

walmart around my area has a nice one for about 80 with taxes. but thats a lot....(im cheap, haha :joy: )

That wallmart one will swell if it gets wet over time because it is painted particle board.
Where are you located?

I built a stand for a 135 based on structural plans from garf.org. I made changes to the design because my tank sits 58 inches off the ground and I didn't think their calculator was safe for this elevation. I added 2x4s under each corner and sheathed the stand with 3/8 ply on 3 sides. used 3/4 ply top and bottom and bolted it to the wall. You won't need the additional structural support for a 55.
