Has anyone else done this?

I am curious if any of you have bought SW snails and threw them in your aquarium to multiply and use for feeding. I have a very large stars and stripes puffer in a 125 that I need to give a healthy diet. Is there any snails that I could pick up at a LFS and throw in my wet/dry to multiply and feed my puffer?
Thanks,
-Peter

snails are difficult to breed due to the larvae stage of the babies, but in a tank with no filters, and plenty of algae, i think you may be able to do it, but like i said i have not heard of anyone being able to, and i know that it is difficult

i know a few people that have had eggs but never kept them alive like fishgeek said they have a long larvel state so it is very hard.

My snail lay eggs all over the glass but my population isn't growing at all so I would not think it would work.

once the snails do eventually hatch, and start growing, it takes a long time for them to get big enough to become beneficial to your puffers diet. why dont you go to the local supermarket/fishmarket and buy an assortment of clams, mussels, and scallops, and just freeze them. then when yu are ready, you can feed the puffer that.
