not trying to gross anyone out...
my navel piercing is healed but ive noticed over time the amount of skin that the piercing is made up of is decreasing. slowly, yes, but it is definately much less than it was or should be. is my body rejecting the piercing? again, the piercing is fully healed and not "gross" in any way.
thankss.

I would think if it was being rejected you would see infection
. Perhaps it just seems less as swelling has gone down since it has healed.

I would not think it likely, but stranger things have happened.

Haha. I used to have a belly button piercing. Through the skin, not the "meat" and in 2 years time it had worked itself all the way out. You can't tell now cause it's been a while, but the ring got closer and closer to the edge til it just... Came out.
And never any infections or anything.

Yes, I pierced my left ear during a class in highschool (long time ago). Was in the principals's office within an hour.....and he 'rejected' the whole idea

I've never had any of my piercings reject but when they do they push out like you are describing. It's pushing it out because it's a foreign object like a splinter

I've never had anything reject (3 tongue rings, navel, 1/2" tunnels in my ears, eyebrow, nipples and two surface bars) I had the surface piercing in my wrist that actually healed relatively quickly and I had it for a year before it caught on something and tore....good thing too because having that in a SW fishtank probably wouldn't do it any favours.
Looking at my navel it *may* be a little closer to the edge than when I got it like 8 years ago, but maybe not ...I think some people are more prone to reject than others, and some piercings are more likely to eventually "grow out" (without the nastiness of an acute rejection) too, navels being one of them. That might be what yours is doing. You might be able to get it repierced further back eventually.
