Has this ever happened to you?

I think I have "Lost" a fish- I mean, This fish is no where to be found. I recently purchased a strawberry psuedochromis it became ill and now many, many days later I can't find it at all??? I checked my amonia levels- thinking it might have died and spiked the tank- no amonia?? I did a water change last night and moved my LR- no sign of him- Did he just die and something eat him? I can't even find a body?? What do y'all think? Has anyone else had similar experiance??? I don't know quite what to think?

I know my firefish hides in the rocks and it could be forever before you see him again. He was once gone for 2 weeks.

What in the heck is he eating though?? He used to come out everytime I would feed it's been days???

I dont know, but the first time he did this, I took all the rocks out , tested the water and still no fish. It was about 2 weeks later he poped his little head out.
I do have a wrasse that likes the filter box.

What other kind of fish do you have in the tank? I had a good siz maroon clown, saw it the nite before, next morning it was gone... come ti find out my green brittle star ate it, and had a nice little dinner that nite.

Here is what I have: (and I still can't find the strawberry???)
2 tank percs
1 camel shrimp
2 turbos
1 scooter blenny
1 missing in action strawberry!!???

I have (or had... don't know which) a bi-color blennie, while I was on vacation and was having a friend feed my critters he turned up missing. That was a week ago... haven't seen him out since. I took out the rocks and looked around the tank (thinking he jumped) but still nothing... strangest thing in the world

Put a starfish in my tank a month or so ago. Next day it was missing an arm, so I decided to move it to my sumpugium. A week or so later I went looking for him to see if he recovered, nothing, nada, no where to be found. The only thing I can think of is he died and the eco-system did away with him and quickly.
Anyhow, hope you psudo shows up!

Ok, so maybe I am not crazy?? I was thinking the same thing- maybe the ecosystem decomposed him??

i don't know too much about the science behind decomposition... but I think that is what happened to my blennie ... I was gone for over 1 month so unless my friend fished him out and forgot (not likely) that has to be the only remaining explanation, unless i'm missing something and there is a band of theives running around critters out of peoples tanks!!

Also, depending on how many crabs you have they can make quick work out of a dead fish. I had a little yellow clown goby die in a part of the tank that I would have had to tear the whole thing apart to get at. A couple hours later all the crabs, bumble bee snails, and nessarious (sp?) snails had him completely gone. I have seen them do the same thing to a big turbo snail I had die also. It doesn't take them long if they find it fast.
