I just bought a hatch n' feed brine shrimp thing that grows the brine shrimp from eggs inside and then they grow up and just go out the little opening into the tank. I was wondering if anyone has had any sucess with this or anything like this. or what there experiences have been

unless you feed them right when the hatch or enrich them it's a worthless source of food.

have you had any luck with yours. mine dont seem to hatch? ive been running it about a day and a half and nothing yet.

They can sometimes take up to 48 hours to hatch. I agree that they are not the most nutritious food but some fish enjoy "hunting" them and you should consider them a treat and not a primary food source.

I would disagree, when they first hatch they have some nutrional value.. they just lose it fast but if they are hatching and going right into the tank..that's not so bad

baically according to the literature with the hatchery they hatch and will immediately swim out into the tank in order to get to the light which is a natural response for the newly hatched shrimp. So they should have the egg sacks still attached.
i think my real concern is this. the instructions tell you to add salt to the feeder for freshwater tanks. Being as my tank is saltwater i didnt do this. should i have started with fresh water and then added salt or would my tank water be acceptable.

Yes, they do have "some"" nutritional value. My main point was that they should not be used as a prime food source and more of a treat for your fish.

Newly hatched BBS has nutritional value for about the first 4 hours after hatching, after that it degrades quickly. Those hatch n feeders generally dont work quite as well as just building a hatchery and hatching them yourself from what I understand.

not for very long no, but it does for the first few hours after hatching
