In a 30 gal "fish only" tank what are some of the possibilites for fish.
I am looking for "one" big fish as a stand out fish with some green chromis to finish it off.
No gobies, blennies please

How about a flame or coral beauty angel.
Coral Beauty I find a bit dark and drab for color
Flame is a posibility but very dear in price here $45.00 CDN
Do you have any opinion on the Bi-Color Angel??
I absolutly love Butterflies, looking for something close to a butterfly that would fit in my tank. The one I love is the Auriga butterfly.
For some reason the Bi-Color Angel reminds me of butterflies.

I have but there again they are so drab in color. If I get just one large fish it has to be very colorful.
Do you think 1 angelfish and 5 green chromis is to many for a 30 gal??

No if the chromis are small. However in my experience chromis will kill each other off until there are one or two left even though the literature they do well in shoals of 6 or more.. Has happened a number of times to me and to some friends with 55 gallon tanks. They are mean little suckers, same family as damsels and clownfish.

I would still go with your plan though, and try a shoal of chromis. They are relatively inexpensive fish and if you get small ones and introduce them all at one time maybe the they would be better. Also take a look at the blackmouth chromis. a little more expensive than the bluegreens but a nice loking fish.

Hi, we cannot get those kind. But yes they would be added at the same time, maybe 3 instead of 5 or should I do 4??
I tell ya if my tank was bigger the main fish would be that Auriga butterfly..

Threadfin Butterfly is definitely a beauty! My favorite though is the Saddleback Butterfly.
I say go for the 5 just make sure they are small and see how it goes. Get the angel last.
JMO let's see what others have to say.
