Have you ever bought one coral and paid the shipping?

I just got this for $25 and the shipping is $37
Does anyone else out there purchase one thing and pay shipping?

I try to avoid that. That's why I shop around a lot to find the best place where I can purchase multiple pieces and in most cases get their free shipping.

I order most of my stuff online, but I wait until I have enough for a few things to make it worth shipping

The $25 you spent on the rock is not bad but I think you need to do some better google searching on where to buy your livestock. You need to find some local reefers or at worst some selling reefers where ground shipping is overnight.

All my recent purchases have been from local reefers found through my local online reef club.
I bought a large green-plating Monti from a fellow reefer that was the size of a large head of romaine lettuce. Paid $50 for whole thing. Most LFS and online stores sell 2-3" frags for $30. People are always snipping off SPS and selling the frags cheap.

Well I was technically supposed to add 8 more goodies to that shipment but my fingers were not fast enough on the mouse if you know what I mean.

Anyways I have learned my lesson....

Must have been the big auction site. You probably could have emailed the seller and asked when they were going to put more corals on. They might have let you waited so you could purchase addditional corals to combine shipping. It is a nice piece though.

I don't have a problem ordering multiple.. but you just have to consider the shipping as part of the coral cost.
Luckily there is actually a pool of people locally that LOVE to trade.

This is why I always buy enough to get shipping free. For the cost of shipping you can buy another coral.
If you have someone close by (I don't
) you can go together and puchase online, combined you have enough to just get what you want.
This hobby is sooo expensive you have to do anything you can to keep costs down.
Beautiful piece by the way. I love the blue!
P.S.
My LFS doesn't compare to SWF.com for health and size.

I've done this before. The rare times I bid on anything, I make sure the seller has enough stuff that I'm interested and also have already asked the above question. Then I use AuctionSnapper to do my bidding for me.
