Having Ice Cream!!!

I just dipped myself a bowl of ice cream and as I was removing it from the microwave I asked myself "I wonder how many people heat their blasted ice cream in the microwave"?
So, does anyone else do this...I learned it from my dad, but didn't start actually doing it 'til a couple years ago.

Never heated up my ice cream, but I am eating frozen Girl Scout cookies. Nothin' like a sleeve of Thin Mints fresh out of the freezer!

THIN MINTS ROCK! Never tried them frozen though.
I recognize the avatar pic. It's the Dine with Shamu display tank at SeaWorld San Diego. You're at the lower level, below the dining area.

OMG! You're right! My bf and I had just finished Breakfast with Shamu. It was great--we had a poolside table and a trainer standing right by us the whole time answering all my silly questions. What a great way to start the day! We've done Sea World the past 2 years for vacation so we decided that this year we're going up to Napa and to the Monterey Bay aquarium, but I'm going to miss seeing Shamu this summer!

My fiance returned from Albertson's grocery last night with a box of thin mints ("I couldn't say no to them!") and directly into the freezer they went. Mmmm.

My bf refers to Girl Scouts outside the grocery store as "those little crack dealers" He says that you innocently buy a box of GS cookies from the guy at work helping his daughter sell them, then you polish off that box and go out looking for more. Soon you find GS on every corner pushin' those cookies! Then cookie season is over, all the boxes are gone, and there isn't a Girl Scout to be found anywhere. That's when you start the detox process. Cookie withdrawl is hell.

I think probably most of us that do it discovered it by accident. You see, I grew up in Missouri where it gets very, very cold in the winter. You step outside with a box of cookies, they immediately freeze. So, I grew up thinking that GS cookies were supposed to be frozen. I have no idea what they taste like thawed. I can't imagine they'd be very good.
Actually, I don't know where I learned to freeze them, but I thought my story was pretty good.

lol, those little girl scouts and their parents are like crack dealers! It's terrible! The other day I was driving along and noticed the car next to me had a sign on the window that said, "Want girl scout cookies? Call ###-####." You're post has taken that sign to a whole 'nother arena.
I like that they don't get all goo-ey on your fingers if you hold them for more than second, like with room temperature ones. I learned to freeze 'em from my mom.
...I can't believe I have so much to say about cookies.
Sorry, cookies hijacked the thread. Ice cream? I let it sit for awhile so it goes all soft-serve style.

nope, if its to frozen to scoop its probably not good.
but my uncle always completely melts ice cream in a bowl and lets his dogs eat it.

I have always softened my ice cream. After doing this at some family get togethers we all laughed when my borther in law started doing it too. Although the pefect time for ice cream is when you get home from the store and it has had just the right amount of warming time.
You know the ice cream is soft and the chocolate chips are still hard. :jumping:

As far as cookie talk. Do you prefer cookies straight out of the oven or the way I love them. When they are still warm and the chips are still melty you freeze them. Then the next day either thaw them and the chips have a great crunch to them or eat them frozen straight out of the freezer.

socal... where have you been???
why would you "nuke" ice cream???
as far as GS cookies... thin mints are great outta the freezer...
have you ever taken Chips AHoy! and "nuked" em for about 10 seconds??? AMAZING... just like right outta the oven...
Scotts... i have tried right outta the oven, sit for a bit, freeze em for 1/2 hour and next day... i would honestly have to say that right outta the oven is hands down my favorite... but only homemade... no pilsbury slice n sheet stuff...

We learned to freeze them cuz we bought so many
I come home one day and there's a case sitting on the counter.
"Where'd these come from?"
wife says
"I bought some from so and so and then so and so at work hit me up so don't buy any"
"OK, I won't buy any........more"
"Whatta ya mean more?"
"Well you do have to pre order them ya know"
"How many?"
"I only bought 9 boxes from the neighbor kid"
"I thought you usually got them at work?"
"You didn't let me finish"
"How many did you get at work?"
"12"
"12?"
"Don't you '12?' me! You're the one with a ding dang case of them sitting there"
And this is where the language police would cut it off, But they do freeze well.

lol, so once when I was about 5 maybe my dad was scooping me icecream and he kept teasing me that he was going to put it in the microwave and I was getting really mad...and then I started to cry. Things haven't changed much since then, I like it as cold as possible while still being able to scoop it onto a spoon and put it in my mouth.

Don't nuke my ice cream but I do let it set just long enough for it to be soft serve style. Thin mints fresh outta the freezer taste pretty good too.
