Having Second Thoughts

Tangs have been keep very successfully in 55's however not to common especially now adays as we tend to lead towards lots of LR which is the best filter around, but of course that robs space.
Clowns are a wonderful addition to any tank that's size appropriate, but mixing them is not advised as stated earlier.
You will end up with a dead clown. I bought my (LTA) Long tentacle anemone for my clowns to host not realizing that they were tank raised and don't even look at the LTA. Ha! They swim at the top.

Equipment wise I would opt for an upgrade in your filtration system going away from the Emperor and a wise investment with any tank be it a FO, FOWLR, or reef is a skimmer....
A good test kit, and a refractometer!!!!!!!! HTH

I'm actually planning to get a skimmer after next week maybe or sooner. I was hoping to wait til after my B-day when I have more money. I think will need a better test kit, I've been told Salifert is good, just with they had a master kit avail.. Refractometer will be also on my list. For the skimmer could I get a decent one for less than $100? I need to keep in that range.

I use a 400 for a mini fuge and carbon, so keep that going. When all test read perfect, add some easy corals for color, you won't have problems with them! Good luck.
Yep skimmer is definitely coming soon. I am really convinced now its necessary, especially seeing pics of what it is getting out of tanks that actually look really clean. LOL Hmm, well tomorrow I'm going to the lfs, so I'll get them to check my ammonia then. Can you suggest some easy corals? I had something called a leather hand/glove once, it died several months ago, not sure why. Might not have been a good choice. For the poop prob. with my tang could I use one of those vac things to get rid of it as soon as I see it? Or is the damage done one its uh out?

I currently have 52lbs of rock, was planning to add 20lbs more. Do you think If I keep my lr around that total of 72lbs or lower it would be better for tang in the long run? I have/will have plenty of extrernal filtration(I think) soon so the lesser rock may be ok??
I'm concerned about the clown addition. The clown I have is very calm, except rarely when a fish tries to get near his anenome, of course. However I intend to get a clown with anenemoe that are already together. But I don't want to loose a clown, of course. Would a better idea be to just a bigger anenome and perhaps my clown will visit it? What do you think, chance WWIII or opt for aneneme only?
BTW yesterday I fed the anenome some squid and the clown just moved aside a bit and watched....pretty exciting!!
