I myself have never had a hawaiian blue, but I did have a porcupine puffer. Since they are in the same family, and all puffers prefer shrimp as a staple in their diet, I would say, "Yes," the hawaiian blue would definitely eat your shrimp! Oh yeah, If you dont want your shrimp to become a snack then dont add the puffer.

i asked my lfs the same Q b4 buying one, he said its ok, next thing i know, my shrimp has no antennae, so i exchanged him. yea they will eat your shrimp. my cleaner shrimp grew back his feelers but i now know not to keep any aggressive or puffer fish.
