He Wont Eat His Veggies!

Hi everyone!

So, i got a tiny little 2'' hippo' and the little sucker wont eat for me.... well, he wont eat any veggies for me that is. when it comes to mysis, it lives up to its name. my 3 1/2 '' yellow tang eats red and green seaweed like a tank, but my hippo wont touch the stuff. ive sued a veggie clip, and i have rubberbanded it to a rock too ( thats how i weened my yellow to take from the veggie clip) but he just wont budge. i also attempted some formula 2 flakes but he will only 'taste' them and then spit most of it out.
Any idea on how to get its 'veggies'? there really is no aggression in the tank between the two tangs, there has been some slight tail-flaring on the yellows part because it was 'his' tank, but no real big fights, and its already been 4 days. so i dont think thats the problem.
Im a little concerned, but not too worried. my staple food is cyclops soaked in selcon, and then frozen mysis in the evenings, and then every other day i put in red and green seaweed ( alternating ) also soaked in selcon, and now im adding some formula 2 flakes too. other inmates are 2 firefish ( i believe they paired up!! ) 3 blue/green cromis, the yellow and hippo, and a juvi SFE. Tank is a 90g with a 20g sump ( upgrading in a year or two when the tangs start to get large)
Also, i had a question on my filtration: i feel that my filtration is a little light, all i have running is my monster MRC skimmer which pulls out all kinds of crap, and then i have a filtersock on the drain lines from the DT and from the skimmer ( my sump has no baffles, so a filtersock stops almost all of the micro bubbles ) and then im still running a penguin 350 on my sump (i had used it to seed my tank because it was running on my nano before it moved to the 90g.
Any ideas? im planning to get some carbon bags and put them in the socks for chemical, and im toying with the idea of adding a refugium int he mix, because im thinking of turning my nano into a mandarin tank, so pods would be good. (opinions on ORA mandarins? i hear its quite hit and miss...)
Sorry for the massive amount of questions haha! as i type i think of more, so ill end it here!
Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Hippo Tangs are mostly planktivores so I would not worry about it. Cyclop-Eeze and Mysis Shrimp are perfect.

thanks for the reply Bang. i figured there were some small dietary differences, i just assumed because it was a tang, veggies were a must! puts my mind at ease a bit!

Second Bang's comment, tangs that small eat plankton and other small crustaceans. Not till they get older do they start to eat algae. I would not feed flakes, try the frozen formula 2, just chop it up.

Cut it into smaller chunks, because it has jell in it and stays in cube shape. Smaller chunks allows the tiny guy to be able to eat it instead of biting of pieces. In nature it swallows its prey hole, its not old enough to graze yet.
