Yeah I guess I should have mentioned the second half of my trip first. Though a lot of the cruise was a blur ... too much party rum! I lost my ass in the casino which was a bummer since I usually do pretty good when I gamble. Anyway, we went on a glass bottom boat excursion which was a waste of money. Sure we saw some coral and fish but it wasn't worth the money. The corals were scarce but the fish were ok to see. The Atlantis aquarium was awesome. The other excursions cost so much which was a real dissapointment.
I forgot how you have to deal with the locals selling you stuff. Never give them their initial price! I was able to get them down every time to what I was willing to pay. We didn't stay in Nassau for long so most of my time was spent on the boat. Man did I eat and drink to much and the scale proved it. I gained 6 lbs. Going to hit the gym hard today. It was worth it though. I got to eat a huge variety of foods that I normally wouldn't get to eat. My daughter also had an awesome time. She spent most of her time in camp carinival which turned out to be a huge hit with her. It allowed my wife and I to have a lot of time together which we were not expecting.
We are already talking about going on a longer cruise later this year when the rates are down since this cruise ended up costing quite a bit. I did see something interesting when we were going through customs after we got back. A lady in front of us said she was traveling alone. She was asked when she bought her ticket and she said she bought it the day the ship set sail. I guess those sort of answers raises red flags so she was taken to the back. It reminded me of a buddy who went traveling last year and got grilled for 6 hours in customs. He was stripped searched and everything.
Well enough about my trip. I have a lot of work to catch up on and Speg, I will work on moving the contest forward as soon as I can. It will either be today or tomorrow.
If you like to gamble, the WPT Poker Club is doing a nice 7-day cruise out of Miami on Nov. 7 - 14. You pay for the normal cruise (they say they have inside cabins as low as $400/per person), then pay another $200 to be allowed to play in their reservered Poker Room for the duration of the cruise. The ports are Caymans, Belize, Roatan, and Cozumel. When you're at sea or on the boat in the evening is when the poker tourneys are played. They have various tournaments where you have a $40 buy-in, or a Sit-And-Go cash game. The last two days of the cruise is the Final $150 buy-in tourney where you can become the 'King Of The Cruise'. Not sure what the payouts are. The ports themselves are worth the trip.
