Heartiest Coral

Any word on the heartiest coral to add to a 2 month tank. 75 Gal, plenty of live rock, live sand--82 deg, good current. 1 clown (am probably going to add a Tang next and another clown).
Really want to start w/one or two coral--any suggestions?

What kind of light do you have?
Without knowing that, I would say some mushrooms would be your best bet.

Xenia are really hearty but at 82 degrees they probably will actually die, they hate high temps. Zoos, mushrooms, ricrodia, all do well under those conditions. I would think your tank would be fine after 2 months to hold a lot more though. You could try hammers, frogspawn, trumpets, there's just so much.

Not argueing with the above post, but my pulsing Xenia grows faster than ragweed or dandelions at 80-82 with an occasional peak at 83. Mushrooms are a dang good start, but beware not to put something into your tank that you think you might want to get rid of later. Shrooms can be almost a nuisance if you are thinking of going stony later. I have them in with mine and enjoy them, but must zap them once in awhile to keep them from stinging the nicer stuff. The other suggestions would work good for a beginning as well.

Any polyps or zoos. My green start polyps are very hardy, and after about a month or so under good conditions they take off. Mushrooms are great too.
If your looking for a hard coral, possibly a candy cane coral - just make sure to place it in fairly low flow.

My Xenia also grow like weeds at 80-82deg. I would stay away from LPS corals for a while. A lot of good ideas listed above!! Shrooms & zoos are very hardy starter corals.

I have the same 75g setup including lighting. I have a Torch Coral that is great and flourishing and I love feeding it mysis, brine and other meaty foods - it takes it right out of my hand and slowly pulls it in towards its mouth. I like to think of it as my pseudo-anemone.
