for such a small tank with little amount of water surface area that is probably covered with a hood with built in light you.
the only things i can think of is put fans on and around the tank. that can help keep it cool.
other things that could help if your not already doing is.
place the tank in a area of the room where it gets no direct sun light.
and the AC on the room with the tank if you have one.
if you do not have an AC you can always buy a single room AC unit for Walmart, Meijer, Sears, etc for like $150.

okay, so last night in my panic, i opened the door on the hood, cranked the AC, and put in 2 quarts of ice cold water.
and this morning i clipped a clip on fan to the shelf above the tank and aimed it at the surface. set the air conditioner to fan mode, opened the window a third, and put down the blinds to where the window opened to block light. hopefully that will keep my room cool and the tank cool.

Yesterday my temperature climbed to 82', I want it down my 76'. So I turned the Azoo fans on, they are normally only on when my MH lights are on. This lowered the temp over time to 77. This morning I opened all of the windows and the temp dropped to 74.5' even though my heater is set for 77'. It's tough to control this! By the way, it's a 34 gal. Solana.

Be careful adding the cold water. You don't want to dillute the water too much. You can keep a gallon or so of saltwater in the refrigerator for times when the temp raises. Don't drop the temp too much at once though.

82" is nothing to worry about; adding to Sep said, sudden swings in temp are much more dangerous than a high temp reading. IMO,even 88 is nothing to panic about, just slowly reduce it. You should be able to find the right fan to run over your water surface, they really are effective. BTW, water temp often reaches 88 on the ocean's reefs.

All good tips..... Open top and fans are often first thing to try... The ocean ain't got a glass lid.....
One good thing that works in a small tank as a temporary cooler is a 16 0unce clear CAPPED water or soda bottle full of ice floated in the tank time to time. It is not a long term permanent solution but it will lower the tank temperature gradually.........
For me even having a 50 gallon sump in the basement on a loop with fans on timers, I still always have several "Ice-Bottles" in the freezer for the very hottest summer days as a stand by.......

The fan is your best and most inexpensive option.
Keep a close eye on the evaporation. Make sure you keep up on top offs.
The frozen bottle trick is great for an emergency. Make sure that cap is on tight.

Thanks for the info. I replaced the Solana's bottle autotopoff with one from autotopoff.com. It seems to work well.
It's good to know that 82' is nothing to panic about.
