i would only want to see a 2-3 change at the most between day and night.... maybe raise ur heaters temp to 77.... or put a fan over the top of ur tank to blow the heat from the light away

just get a lil clip on desk fan or something like that and have it blow across the top it will keep the hot air from heating up the tank so much....
i just got mine at walmart

i agree, bump the heater a tad so there is less of a swing. a fan during the day will also help.
do you use a glass canopy?

Good question!! If you have a glass canopy get rid of it.

Hey guys....
What's all this talk about raising the temp? I'm a novice and keep reading about chillers??? Just a bit confused.
Can anyone clarify. Tankx

we are telling this person to raise the temp on their heater so that the change in temperature is not as big from morning to evening and then evening to morning, we are trying to reduce his temp swings, and get the water a more constant temp. probably the only time you will hear about anyone telling someone else to raise their temp...

whats wrong with a glass canopy? Am I missing something? As long as temp. stay within 1-2 degrees, is having a glass canopy ok? :notsure:

Glass canopies are ok as long as there is good ventilation between the water and the air elsewhere (for example, in the sump and/or overflow). You don't want your aquarium to be a closed environment with no air exchange.

So.....on the same thinking,....if you get a water chiller, it maintains the water temperature as well right?

That's right. It helps reduce the the temperature swing during the day when the lights are on by cooling the water.
