heater falling apart

I noticed the other day that the little stickers on my glass heater are falling off!!!
these stickers are diamond in shape and are around the glass
I assume there purpose is for the better transferance of heat
well they are falling off and I found one in the filter of my powerhead
is this dangerous to my fish/corals and is it putting any chemicals in my tank?
the thermometer is not that old, about a 7 months old

If I were you I would take it out to be on the safe side. The last thing you want is a $20 heater killing $100+ of fish corals and inverts. JMO.
