heater question

So, I've built a sump. Now my next problem is that my heater doesn't fit in. It's too tall to be submerged all the way to the water line. Then it's too long to lay in lengthwise.
My question is instead of this large heater can I run too smaller ones.
For example, Say if this heater is 300 watts and I use (2) 150 watters. Would that work?

I've got a brand new 50 gallon reef tank, with 20 gallon sump, with closed loop system. Should be up and running in about 4 weeks. And is going in my bedroom.
