Heating things up

Another blonde question from me lol whats the ideal temp. for my tank, I have live rock and live sand, its a 4 week old tank? I have been keeping it at 80-82 degees. Also should the heater be at the top or placed low near the bottom?

I think if you have good water movement throughout your tank then placement of the heater shouldn't matter. Mine is in the back corner of my corner tank but I have 5 powerheads plus a skimmer and a biowheel which all keep the tank water well circulated.
