Heavy metal!

Whats a good water conditioner to use to treat copper and heavy metals in my well water. My tub always has a bluish-green tint around the bottam of the spicket?

What are you using the water for? IF it is for the tank have you thought of using RO water? Tap water is bad to use in the tank. So well water is even worse. Unless you have a good water purifier set up on your well. Also do you drink the well water? I lived in a house with a well and we had to have bottled water delivered. So you can maybe look into having water delivered to you for yourself and your tank.

Actually its spring water coming out of the ground right out of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Should be pretty good water except for the copper ring around my tub.

Well im trying to set up a 55 gallon reef tank Ive got 40 lbs live rock. Its been up and running for about a month. Just about done cycling. Now im wondering about the copper I read that was very bad. Do you know of any good water conditioners?

hmmm.... I am at a college in Wisconsin and between 2 of my friends and me we have: 75 gallon salt, 55 gallon salt, 46 gallon salt, 2x30 gallon salt, 20 gallon salt, 30 gallon fresh, 20 gallon fresh, and 10 gallon fresh. We have been using the tap water here at school for all of our fish tanks and so far have a great sucess ratio. Right now I have one sick fish but that is it for the year. Tap water has been fine.

I work for the Denver Water Dept. Our treated water is very low in copper, and I assume most treated water is probably low. I do know that copper is supposedly on of the worst heavy metals as far as aquariums go, especially reef/corals. The only treatment I know or that I would trust is using an RO unit. Now since your spring water is relatively high in copper, I'm not sure if the RO unit's membrane would filter out the copper but not last as long, or if it would not be able to filter out all of the copper. I'm sure the manufacturers could tell you if they are compatible with spring water.
