This incident reminds me of a certain cartoon I watched in the 90s. (yes, I had TV then)
"Hey Beavis,
huh, huh
touch that thing."

How's the offending finger this AM?
slimey... it's covered in neosporin, but i dont have a bandage on it.
i ended up cutting the skin off a little (that was pleasant..) but that little skin tab goes into the knuckle and i don't think that would be a good idea to rip off...

Go to the Doctor. You need medication in the least, maybe some anitbiotics, pain killers, psychotic control meds, and a kiss from the nurse.

well, the doc said i'm fine, keep putting what i've been putting on it.
he doesn't like that i cannot form a fist, but thinks it will be better when the swelling goes down.

it's fine, still a tad swollen to where i can't completely touch the tip to the base, but that also might be tendon problem... he was a little nervous about it.
there's still a scab, and i'll have a nasty scar, but it's all good.

Could be like me have a co-worker drop a 13 speed Eaton Fuller transmission on your hand. When that happened I lost the ablilty to move the tip of my left pinky and all feeling of PAIN in my left hand. Man that came in handy when the freaking doctor was late with my wifes epidural when she was giving birth. By the time he got there she was ready to push and had to go natural with my daughter I was her pain control anytime she felt pain she squeezed she ended up breaking my hand in 2 places. I did not feel it.
