Helio Fungia Plate

So I went on vacation last week. Came back a few days ago.
When I came home, I found my acropora frag missing. I thought it fell in the rocks, turns out, it had fallen down to the sand where my helio fungia is at. (It was like getting attacked by the fungia on the other side, so I couldn't find it)
I moved the fungia and found the acropora frag. It's 90% bleached out, but there is some flesh still attached.
My main concern is the fungia. It has always been healthy and happy.
The section where the acro and the fungia were touching is all messed up. The flesh is completely melted off of the plate and the skeleton is showing in a major way. Will it be okay? Will it grow back? Is there something I should do?
params:
0 trates
0 trites
0 ammo
salinity 1.025 (from a refractometer)
temperature is ~ 74
I have yet to check the calcium but it should be decent. Just had a water change. All other corals (except the acro) are doing well. Fish are all present and accounted for. All acting normal and eating. Shimps are good too.
Thanks,
Rae

I think you've still got enough meat on it for it to revive itself. Just don't move it around. Might want to feed it as well and soak the food in vitamins.

mmmkay... whatabout formula one frozen soaked in zoe and boyds vita chem?
I guess that will have to do, cause that's all I've got.
So- Was this caused by the little fight between the two corals?
Thanks for the quick reply

That's exactly what I used.
Was that the exact spot that the corals were touching? If so, then yes, corals stung each other. Just something laying on top of the plate coral can aggravate it enough to do that, the skeleton is so sharp that the skin can't handle it for too long.

Yeah that seems like the explanation. It just looks like it's tearing away sooo much...
stupid snails and hermits... They knock EVERYTHING over!!! UGH!
Thanks for your help. Will post some updates on here... We shall see what happens.
Thanks again-

Well I placed the chunk of food over the mouth and the tentacles were pretty responsive. I guess that is a good sign. Hopefully he will revive himself.

I had a very nice orange fungia once that I placed too close to the glass and I hit it hard with the magnet scraper. I think I cracked the fungia and it still lasted awhile but ended up dying. I think yours looks good enough to make it through.

Thanks. I sure hope you're right. I have been looking at it more, and it looks like the skeleton is showing all the way to the mouth. It's not quite there, but it is literally 1mm from the mouth. Do we think this effects anything? If it's close to the mouth, does that mean that it is a goner?

The more flesh that's missing, the more likely it is to die. It is a good thing that it ate. I'd keep an eye on it if the flesh is missing all the way to the middle like that. Is it a tiny strip?

Not to be Mrs. Negativity, but I have never heard of a plate recovering from any type of flesh erosion....:(

hmmm, well I guess I will have to see... I feel bad for the poor little guy.
plus I DK is the acro will come back (probably not)... so I lost 2 corals. blurgg....
The section is maybe like a 1'' by 1'' patch. It's near the mouth, but it's also in the side/bottom too.
About 80 percent of him is okay. He is healthy looking everywhere except on that one spot in the picture.
It appears that he ate all the food and is swelling up nicely (He does that whenever I feed him).
Well keep your fingers crossed.
