I am just introducing myself.
I have been in the hobby for about 1 year. I have a 55, 20, 10 (wife's), and 5 gallon tanks.
The 55 is a reef in the making and the others are fish only.
I look foward to sharing my experience and opinions and hope you guys and gals will do the same.
For starters, how in the world do you get a picture small enough to use as an avatar?
I took a picture with my digital camera and I can't seem to get it down to the 9.8 kb limit.

TX Welcome!!! Take the pic and open it in paint... Then click on Image, then stetch and skew. Shrink it down a little the pic has to be below 500x500, you can see that under image, then attributes. Looking foward to the pics!!!

Sorry, I was refering to the avatar.
I can't get any of my pics under 9.8 kb.
I shrink them way down and I can't get them any smaller than 20 kb.
Is there another way to reduce the file size instead of resizing?

you wouldn't happen to have a program called IrfanView would you? that's what I use to resize mine and it works great .. if it bothers you too much you could go to download.com and type in IrfanView and it should come up with a downloadble version of the software for free .. once you have the software all you have to do is open the file with IrfanView then click save and it'll ask you what size you want the file .. and .. voila

Hey and welcome to the board!!!! As far as avatars what you need to do is on the properties of the image size change the size to 100 pixels by 100 pixels. I think that is the size that they are looking for.

Make sure to save the file as a .jpg file since they are smaller then a .bmp or .gif file but I think that avatar files need to be .jpg anyways :happyfish

I am located in Temple about 60 miles north of Austin on I-35.
I went to Austin Aquariums down there a few weeks ago. That store is huge and had the largest selection I have ever seen.

Click on USER CP at the top of the page.
Then clisk on EDIT PROFILE.
Look in the part of the page labeled OPTIONAL INFORMATION.
There is a blank block labeled CUSTOM USER TITLE.
Fill this in with whatever you want and save changes.
Let me know if any of you guys wants to swap frags.
