my tank is 36in long, 23 in wide(curved front) not sure of depth. I am going with T5s. i have an Icecap 660 ballast. My question is how many watts would be needed to keep clams and SPS? One store told me that i would at least 8 bulbs. Is this true?

No I just got done getting this answer myself. All you need is 36" 4 t-5 bulbs the ice cap ballast will over drive the the bulbs(this will provide about 40% more output) . Also this depends on if you using individual reflecors or not.

you dont need to overdrive them.. but, since you already have the ballast might as well use it... all you need are 4 36'' t5 and you should be able to grow anything.. well except softies and such.. thwy cant handle that much light unless you acclamte them over a good time... im growing lps on my sandbed with 6 48'' t5 w/ SLR normally driven ...
