Help 3 gallon trouble!

My 3 gallon was doing great this morning, but I came home tonight to find that my tank is a white cloudy color and the water has a wierd smell to it. I did a gallon water change with no change to the color. I keep the water at 1.025 and I have two pistol shrimp, Duncans, Rics, Mushroom, and a small toadstool. Is there something putting this stuff in my water?

Do you have any sand in your aquarium? Could be the pistle shrimp moving the sand around................ is the aquarium new, and if so did you clean the sand before placing it into the aquarium? I know that mine is sometimes cloudy when my silly clowns dive down in it!!
ut if its established and your shrimp dont burrow in the sand, which I think they do? Then in that case it could just be the sand! Hope this helps

It's not the sand since the water I changed out is still cloudy. Also the sand is not fince at all. The wird plastic like smell is also very wierd. My corals dont look bad but I am freaking out because I am leaving town for a week.

do you have a different tank? I would say put it all in that tank..then redo this tank with new water and stuff...is the light melting the plastic?

There is no amonia or trates that showed up on the test. The only thing that I can see is the water is cloudy and smells wierd. Also the water only turned cloudy after about an hour the lights were off.

It's a chemical plasticy like smell. However there is no sign of melting, nor was the light abnormaly hot today.

I am in a hotel lobby right now to give you an update on the tank. I am not sure what happened to the tank but the person who is taking care of it while I am away sent me a pciture of it and it is now clear as it has always been. Not sure what happened, the only thing I changed was I removed a leather coral to my main tank before I left for vacation. Thanks for all the help in trying to figure out what happened.

It was probably your leather shedding. They emit a mucouse substance while doing this. I found when I moved mine it would go through this. Run some carbon in there and it should clear everything up quite nice.
