okay, now that youve been pre scolded for even thinking
such things. welcome!this is definetly the place to come
for quick response with multiple anwers .some people
have been doing this hobby for 30yrs . i find it very addicting
myself .im on my 2nd tank .as some have said ,definatly get the
book.and go slow.imo, patience is a must in this hobby.
salt water is much more complex then fresh and in my opinion
1000times more rewarding.one other thing, and not to disrespect
local fish stores when it comes to buying things aks the people here.
think about it .your local fish store is out to make money.people
here arent.im not saying ther all bad but , its there job to sell.
there products and livestock may be fine.just take a few min
and ask here.
p.s my kids had just as much fun watching the tanks grow
i think the hardest thing was waiting for the tank to cycle.
its a good felling when people come over and are at awww
good luck!

I agree with brace. some of my family came over today. Last year at this time I was just cycling my tank and there was nothing in it. They couldn't understand why I was waiting when everything looked good the outside. Today when they got here, the tank was up with a puffer, foxface and a clown in it and their words were WOW!!! Just remember this word when setting up a saltwater tank....PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE. Its worth the wait.

Ok so I misread. But I believe the discussion was over yellow tangs in a 75, in which case many people have had success with. I personally keep a tomini ( a type of kole) in a 55, which is the same length as a 90, and twice the width of an adult tomini. Setting specific tank sizes for animals isn't always "law". IMO, it depends on overall stocking, filtration, etc. So can you keep a yellow in a 75? IMO, yes. Anything that can come close to being larger than the tank is wide though? Not a good idea...
