HELP! Algae Bloom

My 55 gal tank is just over 3 months and for about a week or so i have been experiencing a green like fog. I did a water change and left the lights off for two days this caused a highly noticable difference, so I left my lights on for about 8 hours and it's back.
I'm planning on doing another water changer this afternoon.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

What do you use for lighting and what kind of photo period do you use? What kind of circulation do you have? What are current results of tests for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate/PH/Specific Gravity/temp/phosphates? What is your feeding schedule like and what fish/corals do you keep? What is your top-off water source and how often do you normally perform water changes? What type substrate do you use and how much? What type and amount of LR do you have?
All the above questions could play a part in your algae problem...the more info provided the easier it may be to help you determine a cause and solution.
