Help Anemone on the War Path

The LFS sold me a stripped flat eanemone and that is what they call it but I call it a murderer it ate my scarlet cleaner shrimp and my Yellow heaeded jaw fish!!!!!!!!!!  Just wondering if anyone know if this Anemone is strictly a fish and invert eater?:( I think it is going to take a trip back to the store no more anemones for me!

From what I know, most if not all anemones are predatory and will eat pretty much anything thats dumb enough to try moving through the tentacles. The exceptions being the critters who live in them, clowns, anemone crabs and anemone shrimp, ect.

Flat anemone? Could this possibly a Carpet Anemone?
As stated above, all anemones are carnavorous and will consume anything that it would get in the wild. Carpets are generally noted as "fish eaters," as they have the most powerful Nemotocysts. Carpet anemones usually will consume fish, squid, krill, etc. If you're worried about the anemone continueing to eat your livestock, I would return it.

If you want something for your clowns to host in, I would recommend a Toadstool leather (Sarcophyton sp.) for your clownfish. These will make perfect hosts for the clownfish, and often will resemble an Anemone. Many other types of leathers including the Devils Hand (Lobophytum sp.), Spaghetti Leather (Sinularia flexibis) and Finger Leather (Sinularia sp.) will also work fine.
Other good hosts include the Colt coral (Cladiella sp., or, Alcyonium sp.), Kenya Tree (Capnella sp.-should be added to a mature aquarium), Alveopora (Alveopora sp.), Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens), Hammar Coral (Euphyllia ancora), Bubble Coral (Plerogyra sp.), Green Star Polyps (Pachyclavularia sp.), Xenia (Xenia sp.?), Frogspawn (Euphyllia sp.
), etc.
There were many I never meantioned, only due to the care level required for them, and the difficulty of keeping them sucessfully alive. Some of these include the Flowerpot (Goniopora sp.
), Plate Coral (Heliofungia Actiniformis
), and Elegance (Catalaphyllia sp.
) to name a few.
Take Care,
Graham

Some clowns will host in anemones while some will pay no attention to them. It really depends on the clowns personality, to weither it will host in the anemone or not. You certainly cannot force the clown to host in the anemone.
Out of curiousity, is this clown captive breed?
