I put this over in the reef forum and figured someone might be browsing over here also that could help me out. Came home from class today and found the glass bowing out in my tank a little bit.....Look at the top of the tank and the brace that holds the top together in the middle is broken in half. What do I need to do abou this. Will the glass give way and break? My LFS that I bought the tank from is closed on Mondays, so there is nothing I can do today about anything. Someone please help I don't want 55 gallons of saltwater in my apt, neither does the apt. complex. I have a pic of what the thing looks like.

1st thing it to lower the water level as much as you can. Be careful not to expose tany heaters or powerheads. You've got to relieve the pressure before the seams give out. Don't panic... you're probably safe for a few days but you need to take care of it ASAP.

I would go to HD and get one of those vise-grip quick clamp clamps. Clamp the top frame enough so the center brace is together again. I would then epoxy a pc of plastic across the broken area.

you can order those from the lfs but you would have to wait for it to come in, the best bet might be the clamp thing and epoxy like said earlier.

The clamp thing is a good idea but I would also use 2x4's with it to distribute the pressure of the clamp.
