help cant keep cleaner shrimp

i got 2 cleaner shrimp from two diffrent stores in the last 2 weeks I acclimated them for 1 hour with a drip tube i compared salinity from store and aclimmation water from my tank i got it down to my salinity when they went in my tank they swam for about 3 minutes stopped swimming and just died. my water parameers are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 ph 8.3 nitrate .10 what am i doing wrong i want a shrimp but dont want to kill another or waste more money please someone help its a fish and invertabre tank with anemones feather dusters hermit crabs urchins 1 dottyback 4 damsiles 1 flameangle 1 gobby 1 algee blemmie 1firefish my salinity is at 1.020

Your water leves sound good. All I can ask is how much stress where the shrimp under before you got them?

the shrimp looked like they were doing fine they were active and looked healthy

It seems to me that your sg is way to low for shrimp. You should have atleast 1.023 but 1.025 would be the best. Also acclimulate them slower, like 2 hours

That happened to one of my cleaner shrimp before. And I asked the guy at my LFS and he told me that it might be some chemicals in the tank.

what is the recommended sg for shrimp ill raise it to 24

what chemicals do you use i use purpal up garlic amquel and polyaqua when i do water changes what did you do

He gave me some powder bacteria. I don't remember the name of it. But I think thats what did it because after I stoped using it my fish seemed healthier.

I don't use any chemicals... Copper can be toxic to shrimp... Also a guy that runs a fish store told me that phosphate can be toxic to shrimp... Yes 1.025 would be recommended for pretty much any inverts

im going to raise sg would phosphate be high from using purpal up it does raise calcium level though i wasnt using it with first shrimp ill have to test it what causes phosphate to riase

Basically everything causes Phosphates to raise, from food to water.. It just kind of seems to creep up over time.. I don't think purple up has any phosphate in it, the garlic might.. don't really have a clue...
Oh and be careful raising sg, do it over a few days

im going to do a water change and start raising sg ill try new shrimp next week thanks for advise im going to see what lfs says but im sure thell tell me get another one at 20 bucks a pop of course thanks again
