Help: cloudy new saltwater for water change?

So I got my RO/DI equivalent water from work, and I mixed up 5 gallons of salt water, put in my powerhead and left it covered for a week. Went to do a water change and the water is cloudy?????
Well, I had some more of the good water, so I wiped off the powerhead, mixed up another batch of saltwater, put in the powerhead, but did not turn it on to answer the phone, and came back to cloudy again with some small white ant sized things floating on top.
Should I assume it is a calcium precipitation event? I am temporarily out of calcium test kit, or I would know for sure.
Is it possible, once I test for calcium and find out that it is low, to let the water settle, siphon off the clear, and add CaCl back to reconstitute it?
Should I just throw out the 10 gallons of saltwater, and soak my powerhead in vinegar before I use it again?
Do other things precipitate with the calcium carbonate? Magnesium?

Got the kit, checked for calcium and it is around 400ppm. The salt is chrystal sea marine mix. What is wrong with it?
