Help!!! Did I buy the wrong thing?

I am really frustrated right now with my new Emperor 400. It is a lot noisier than I thought it was going to be and there are bubbles throughout my tank. I have done what others have suggested except I need to try the open cell filter sponge on the output. Should I have bought an Aqua Clear Filter? Are they any quieter or put out less bubbles. Thanks.

I am sorry I really do not have any tips but I ran an Emperor 400 and it also made tons of noise and kept my tank full of bubbles. I junked mine and replaced it with a sump I had for another tank.

I don't have a sump and I needed a HOB. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know ASAP. Thanks...

Bubbles indicate that its picking up air somewhere . . . I'm not personally familiar with that one (brand filter). If you exchange it I prefer the magnum brand. I occasionally run carbon in a magnum HOT. No bubbles and very quite . . . I do not care for the aquaclear brand either. JMO

jlem - The plunger is pulled all the way up for max water flow. When you push it down it slows it way down so you can feed the fish. Thanks.

Mine would girggle for a few seconds until it expelled all of the air. But it never lasted more than a couple seconds. I would fill mine all the way up with water before I turned it on.
